Replicating Human Brain

A recent article in the San Jose Mercury titled “Google, Facebook and other tech companies race to develop artificial intelligence” talks about the race underway between high tech companies to replicate the workings of the human brain. Leading technology companies (see Figure 1) are hiring artificial intelligence (AI) experts and buying AI companies[1] in hopes of creating systems that can “match the human brain’s ability to handle more complex challenges such as interpreting the intent of written texts and spoken messages, so they can better anticipate what kind of information, including ads, their users want to see.” Yeah, that’s how I want artificial intelligence used:  to determine what ads I want to see.
